I think he took and amazing photo.
I painted this last summer for a girl I use to work with while I was at D.O.M. She is a very busy girl but is always giving her time to her family and anyone who needs her. Not to often does she make time for herself, so I wanted to make something for her. She loves hummingbirds so this was what I painted.

My husband had a startling incident with a black bear a couple of years ago and although its in poor taste I chuckle when he looks at this painting and shutters. We have multible bear sighting on our property every season and have learned to not walk into the fields quitely. The bears need time to flee. Or at least we hope thats what they decide to do.
This is another in the indoor outdoor paintings series. Exterior and artists acrylics on plywood, 24x48in. Based on a photo by: Joe McKenna https://flic.kr/p/bWjLLw This painting is based on a photo we took while on vacation in Sanibel Island Florida. Truely a great spot to spend a couple of weeks. I hope to be able go back there again some day.
I have wanted to paint a larger Iris painting for a while and since I had one more of my larger plywood pices left I thought why not make it an indoor outdoor painting. It is 4ft x4ft in size and brings with it a feeling of warm beautiful weather. I thought I would show some of the painting process.
This is another indoor outdoor painting in a different size than I usually do. It is 4ftx4ft, surprisingly it took just as long to paint this as it did the larger size. So you just never know. Last night was 40 below zero....BERRRRRR. I hope that was the last of the crazy cold stuff. The indoor outdoor paintings are being stored in the greenhouse till spring when we can display them without freezing to death. Thankfully that will not be that long.
This big chicken was so fun to paint. A little tricky sometimes as my studio space is quite small. I can not stand back far enough to get a feeling of how things look when they are this big. A few times I went outside and looked in through the window....sounds crazy but it actually worked. This painting is on plywood and is painted in both exterior and artist acrylics that are rated for exterior use. My intention is to have the option to hang it outside.
The photo that this painting is based on is by: Artep https://flic.kr/p/6q93S I wanted to try and paint another Moose with a different perspective. When I seen this photo in Flickr I knew it was the one for me to try.
photo by: Shanthanu Bhardwaj https://flic.kr/p/p6Huup We have been having some very mild weather which is a wonderful thing. But cloud cover is the price you pay for that mild temperature. So I thought I would paint something a little brighter than I typically do. The photo this painting is based on was taken by: Thor https://flic.kr/p/68cjCc
