Some paintings are just pure pleasure to paint. This was one of them. It never ceases to amaze me how all phases of life has cycles of emotion and learning, sometimes all is well everything is clicking along and then POW!!!!!! All of a sudden its strugle and pain. Such is the stuff of growth......I want a vacation......

I have been working on this painting for a couple of weeks. A process made even slower by having the flu. Its been years since I have had the flu and I hope to never have it again. Along with chills, spliting headahe ,sore throat, extreme cough and nausea was the insane tirdness. I could not paint for about a week of my two week flu....and that was very boring.
But the sun has been out for a few days making everything brighter and better, including me. Time to get busy and paint, paint, paint. This is my first time painting donkeys and it will not be my last. They are so cute, you can't help but fall in love with them. I have not seen many donkeys in my life but my aunt had one for a while. She used to hook him up to a tiny wagon and we would laugh when he made its trade mark call. My sister had a chubby pony when we were growing up, his name was Poncho he looked like he was part donkey....short stout and with big ears, oh and very stubborn. My sister would make me catch him if he was out in the field, since I didnt ride him he wouldn't usually run from me. He was not dumb, after a while he would'nt let me catch him either.....
